It’s easy to forget where you are when you’re doing a list of tasks. It’s even easier to forget when you are doing the same set of tasks over and over again in different places.
I spent my whole day implementing a server design over and over again. It’s been two years since I last did it and it was remarkable how much less brainpower I needed. That dramatic drop was down to writing down the actions I was about to take and the environment I was going to take them in. Once done, tick them off on the sheet of paper. No more losing your place in the process when somebody interrupts you.
